Three C’s of effective communication – the vital factors for success.

Today’s modern workplace is so diverse that being able to communicate is an essential skill for any individual to be successful. In the current era of globalization, there is always a possibility for one to communicate with people from different parts of the world. Virtual interactions are gaining more prominence. And effective communication is of paramount importance.

globalizationThe lack of proper communication skills creates barriers and affects both the individuals and the organizations. When desired results are not achieved due to miscommunication, Individuals self-confidence deters. They doubt their ability which eventually declines their growth.

Lack of proper communication and incorrect information within organizational teams leads to decreased performance, lack of motivation and in-cohesive teams and may also lead to improper reputation of the organization.

Developing essential communication skills can prove helpful in all walks of life.

The following aspects should be kept in mind in developing good communication skills and adapting a suitable style. These are what I call the three “C” of communication. Clear, Confidence and Critical thinking.

Effective communication is confidently communicating the idea or the fact that has been thought through well.

The first aspect to communication is to convey the thought across in a clear and precise manner. Do not over complicate things. Do not use intricate words in order to showcase your communication skills. It is important to keep the large set of audience in mind and communicate with simple and clear words. Do not make any assumptions on what the other person knows. A lot of information is lost by making assumptions and leads to incorrect information and thus miscommunication.

Develop a communication style which showcases your confidence. If you are communicating in person, watch they way you speak, your voice tone, your body language, your choice of words, and make sure you maintain good eye contact. The speed at which you talk is equally important. Practice a consist style that suits your personality.

One should also make sure that they are communicating reliable and accurate information. Develop a good thought process before you speak. This will instill confidence. When you believe you have accurate information, you communication will be more effective.
